My company focuses on a young to middle age consumer of the middle to upper class. The goal of the company primarily focus on good design that doesn't break the bank. Most customers are professionals with limited space, using modular and stack-able design features we are able to draw these customers in. The element of design that I chose was texture. In reevaluating the word soft, I began thinking of a way to convey "softness" in a non traditional way. Taking inspiration from sports the tennis ball stool was born. I then further used the idea of a soft texture in the background of my board by using a grass pattern.
To create this board I first took the images that I took using the boundary hall light box and masked them out and inverted the selection in order to delete the background. After that I photo corrected the piece in order to get the lighting that I wanted. I then used depth of field and masking to create the black and white image seen in the bottom right of the image. Using a series of gradients, overlays, and patterns I created the background image. Then I used pattern overlays and drop shadows in order to get the desired text. My main inspiration for this project was poster design and photoshop tutorials that i found through research on the web and through books on graphic design found in the jenn library.
