Project 1: Identity Poster: David Murphy

I selected my winerack because I feel that it has very strong design elements of line and color. And the principles of unity, primarily repetition and rhythm, direction, and emphasis are strong in this piece.

The posters that influenced this design had several things in common: eye catching color, good flow of images and information, good use of negative space, and an urban feel. However, I scrapped my first design that was much more like the inspiration posters because it presented a more juvenile feel that I didn't think was appropriate in the context of my target market and the venues this poster would be presented in.

The posted image is a slightly altered version of the original poster presented. I made a few changes based on feedback during the critique, such as enlarging the image of the wine rack to make it more of a focal point. I moved the design principles and elements out of the image so that they would be more legible.
