Jared Knoy Project 1

The goal of my company is to specialize in furniture and accessories mostly for residential and smaller business purposes. We try to streamline the use and appearance of our design by using clean lines and soft edges to simplify the busy lives of our consumers. Many of our furniture pieces are modular in some form or fashion so the user may add their personal touch to create a relaxed environment in their home or office space. All of our pieces are versatile so that they may be used in almost any manner that the user can imagine. We have opened the door to a new age in which shelving units are no longer just for peoples’ books, but can be arranged as a television stand, a bench or stools, and the possibilities continue. We strive for varying functions within all of our pieces without sacrificing aesthetics because we don’t want our consumers to be restricted in the use of our furniture.

The Cashew Tetra Shelves focuses mostly on line and rhythm when looking at its principles of design. The rhythm of the piece can be changed as the shelves are rearranged into its different forms making it a whole new piece of furniture, while each individual line creates the movement and structure within the piece. Some of the graphic styles I drew inspiration from were by Pottery Barn and Bassett. The movement of lines in their advertisements for furniture was simple and informative which resulted in giving the viewer a sense of how the piece was used.

All of my editing for this poster design was achieved through Photoshop, by changing the opacity of some objects/ texts, color correcting the shelving pictures, and a few other tricks i learned.
