Project 1: Identity Poster: Amber Freeland

Rhythm and unity are the elements and principles of design featured here. Rhythm creates movement and variety in the seating form while unity is achieved with the connection of two seats facing each other, meant to unite the users as well. Unity is represented in the poster through a common font and color as well as the background, which is a second view of the featured piece. The background also acts as the representation of rhythm by creating a visual movement that counters that of the piece.

My research influenced my font and background. It inspired me to place a stroke of color around the font and also to alternate the fill and stroke colors. My research also lead me to use a second view of my piece as the background instead of using a solid color. Based on comments from the critic I possitioned my name so it would act as a vertical element to counter the horizontal, which is so strong in the poster, and I changed the font to something less prominent. After failing to improve the drop shadow that was originally on the title, I removed it and made the stroke larger.
