Unity and Emphasis are the principles of art chosen to highlight the object. Emphasis is displayed in the lamp’s “head” peering down at the hand holding the cord. Having the word emphasis larger than the other text also follows theme. Unity refers to the lamps simple curves of the form, visually making the object whole. Placement of simple geometric shapes, and usage of two colors, compliments the lamp.
Making the lamp appear clean, fresh, and desirable was the goal meant to be accomplished in designing the poster, which was influenced by the source material. Brightness/contrast, levels, and vibrancy tools were applied to the entire image. Black lettering on the objects cord was removed with the clone stamp and history brush. Paths were made using the pen, magic wand, and marquee tool. This allowed the object to be removed from the background to be placed in the poster.
Issues concerning text, object placement, scale, and the arrangement of shapes were discussed from the working critique. Text needed a layer effect to make it more interesting. Compositional elements of the gray bars needed to be re-sized. The lamp’s placement was to close to the middle of the page; it also needed to be larger and more noticeable.
